Odesk Review

Odesk Review

So I’m sure some of you out there have heard of Odesk (a freelancing site for writers, designers, illustrators, etc.). I stumbled upon it probably 5 years ago and was immediately turned off by all the designers overseas that had a going rate of $1/hr. So I left for awhile but was recently reading someones blog who was doing a review on Odesk and thought I would check it out again to see what was new.

I was almost immediately obsessed.

I will say that  a lot of the jobs on there are still looking for really cheap artists but there are other people looking for quality over cheap. Since I have a lot of experience in the label world I’ve been sticking more to jobs that are along that route. I’m comfortable with labels and I can usually work and get them done pretty quickly. Plus since I have the experience in the printing industry I can kind of direct clients about that which they seem to like.

Here’s examples of some recent work I’ve done on Odesk.

Now Offering Prints on Etsy!

After having my baby I searched high and low looking for the PERFECT art to put on her wall. Being a designer makes it really difficult because nothing seems to be exactly what you want. Then I had a lightbulb moment and thought HEY I’m a designer why am I not doing this myself! So I opened an etsy shop and although I only have a couple things up there I’m pretty darn excited about it. I hope to be adding to it more and more over the months. Right now it’s really geared towards babies but eventually I plan to get other stuff up there too.

Here’s where you can check it out!

Thanks for stopping by.

Boxxboys Business Card

Boxxboys Business Card

Simple is best. I’m convinced.

My favorite part about this business card design we did is the back, I love the two greens with the logo.  Simple but professional. I think sometimes people look at simple and think “that is too easy-anyone can do it”. Like you need something complex with a lot of information to make you look like you know what you are doing.

I disagree. Simple is clean, organized and shows you’ve got your crap together.

Utter Blog

Today has been a day full of cleaning and consolidating. Very productive I might add. Although, I changed my website again. I really am trying to not change it every 6 months but I keep seeing websites I absolutely LOVE and it inspires me to add to mine! The good thing about it is I always learn so much more about WordPress when I do a new site. The options are really endless and it reminds me why I switched to WordPress. Anyways, please excuse the jumbledness on the site until I can get things in order!

Sheltons Tradebooth

Sheltons needed a Tradebooth for a show they were attending. They wanted to showcase just a few products and this is what we gave them. Upscale look, yet bright and attention-grabbing. They are always doing something fun with their designs whether it be a turkey with sunglasses or flyers with bright fun colors. You can learn more about them here.
